New friends

Sooooo back to my normal every-day boring life. Blarg.

What a reality check today was. First, I woke up with an upset stomach and feeling absolutely miserable. So I talked to Tim for a while (he's my new friend) and then went back to sleep. Then woke up again when Jack stopped by with lunch. Then went back to sleep again. So today was a pretty boring day. But then Cy's Eyes was relatively fun for how much our graphics machine is falling apart. Haha. But oh well.

Anywho, I realized that I never got around to describing Tim! He's my new friend and he looks WAYYYY too much like Ovechkin for his own good. Haha.

See what I mean! But anywho, it's actually a really funny story how we met.

So the first day of the student conference, I am sitting with my Iowa State buddies and I look in the front of the room and literally do a triple take because I see what looks to me like Ovechkin standing in the front of the room. So I'm freaking out because I LOOOOVE Ovi. Haha.

So Saturday morning resumes and I'm telling pretty much anyone who will listen about how there's a kid that looks like Ovi and I want an excuse to go talk to him. So that afternoon I had a half hour break so I decided to call my parents since that was the only chance I'd really get to talk to them all weekend. And of course I told them all about the guy that looked like Ovi. In the process of doing that, though, he walks up and is standing like 10 feet from me talking to a friend. So I pretty quickly changed the subject. As I continue talking to my parents, his friend walks away and he just kinda sits there, which I guess I found a little odd but I was just happy to be able to sneak looks at him. Then my parents had to get going because they had something, so I hang up the phone and literally within about a minute, he walks up to me and says, "Hi! My name is Tim."

Of course at this point I'm going "NO EFFING WAY." And so we keep talking and typical things come up. Like he pronounces my last name wrong, so I correct him and he goes "Well, at least I don't look like anyone famous." So I'm sitting there going, "Liz. Don't say anything. Don't be an idiot." haha. But we hung out all day and by the end of the day we were pretty much attached at the hip! It was amazing! He's a really great guy and I know that we'll be friends for a LOOOOOOONG time. Haha.

But yeah, the rest of my trip was great. Although now that I'm back home, I miss Tim like crazy. Luckily he has Skype so we can talk lots that way. And texting! We've been texting pretty much all day.

But anywho, I better get going. I have some homework that needs to get finished before tomorrow. Soooo, write more later! Toodles!

National AMS Conference 2011

So haven't updated in a while, but I figured that this would be a good time to update everyone on what's been happening!

I'm currently at the National American Meteorological Society conference in Seattle, WA, and it's been AMAZING so far!

It started off yesterday. Although our flight was delayed, we ended up getting to Seattle in a fairly reasonable amount of time! And the SeaTac airport is really nice! Then we got to ride the lightrail to our hotels. I am staying in the Crowne Plaza, which I must say is an EXTREMELY nice hotel! I signed up for their free rewards program and got upgraded to a room with a view of the Space Needle!
I also made a new friend today and did a TON of networking! I even got to have lunch with Dr. Bond! For those of you that don't know, I did my senior thesis based on a paper he wrote with Dr. Mass! It was EPIC! So that was definitely cool. Hung out a TON with my new friend! And he's from Vermont! :D And he thinks he can get me in with the TV guy in Burlington! :D So yeah, today was definitely a good day.

Hopefully I'll be blogging more in the future (especially about the rest of this amazing conference!), but for now it's time for bed! It's 1 a.m. here but according to my internal clock it's 3 a.m. BARF. Haha. Soooo definitely time for bed. 'Night!
